Higher UV exposure is associated with lower mortality!

The United Kingdom is a high latitude and low-sunlight country. Researchers collected data on over 360,000 participants in a study of UV exposure via solarium use.

When compared with non-users, solarium users had a:

  • 15% lower risk of all-cause mortality,
  • 23% lower risk of cardiovascular (CVD) mortality,
  • 14% lower risk of cancer mortality, and a
  • 12% lower risk of non-CVD/non-cancer mortality

“Our study adds to growing evidence that the benefits of UV exposure outweigh the risks in low sunlight environments,” the researchers concluded.
